TRIP ITINERARY
Day 1: Arrival in Dar es Salaam – Transfer to Mikumi National Park
Arrive in Dar es Salaam and meet your driver-guide. From there, transfer by 4×4 safari vehicle to Mikumi National Park. You’ll have the evening to relax at the lodge, preparing for the adventure ahead. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at a lodge in Mikumi.
Day 2: Full-Day Game Drive in Mikumi National Park
Start your day with an early breakfast before embarking on a full-day game drive in Mikumi. Spot elephants, lions, buffaloes, giraffes, and other wildlife. A visit to the famous Hippo Pool offers a chance to observe hippos and crocodiles in their natural habitat. After the day’s adventures, return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3: Hiking in Udzungwa Mountains National Park
Early in the morning, depart for Udzungwa Mountains National Park to enjoy a scenic hike. One of the highlights of this excursion is the trek to Sanje Waterfalls, where cascading waters plunge 170 meters into the forest below. As you ascend, look out for endemic species such as the Iringa red colobus monkey and the Sanje mangabey. After a picnic lunch surrounded by lush rainforest, head back to Mikumi in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight will be at the same lodge.
Day 4: Transfer to Ruaha National Park – Evening Game Drive
After breakfast, travel to Ruaha National Park, Tanzania’s largest park, known for its incredible diversity of animals and landscapes. Upon arrival, enjoy an evening game drive where you may see elephants, kudu, lions, and various bird species. Dinner and overnight stay at a lodge in Ruaha.
Day 5: Full Day Game Drive
Embark on an extensive full-day game drive in Ruaha National Park. Explore the park’s diverse landscapes while spotting elephants, lions, leopards, and a wide variety of birds. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge in Ruaha.
Day 6: Return to Dar es Salaam
In the morning, enjoy a final breakfast in the wilderness before beginning your journey back to Dar es Salaam. Reflect on the unforgettable experiences and spectacular scenery of Tanzania’s Southern Circuit. Upon arrival in the city, proceed with your departure arrangements.
